Back in 2018, SGMF launched the first version of our Safety Dispersion Tool – BASiL. Developed for the only alternative fuel available back then, LNG, the tool has become the industry standard for bunker operations around the world. After so many years of experience and a significant increase in demand, BASiL has now been further developed and enhanced to provide instant live reporting, intuitive set-up and easy accessibility through our upgraded portal. And that’s not all, as work on adding ammonia and methanol has already started.
As a result of these developments, and to better serve frequent users, SGMF is changing the way BASiL is offered. From 1st January 2025, BASil will be available on a subscription basis for both members and non-members. For stakeholders for whom BASiL is the main driver for being a member, there’s good news. For a fixed annual fee, they can run unlimited reports and this is no longer connected to a membership.
The fees are split in different levels, in order to accommodate the different types of users:
- Members, unlimited use of BASiL GBP 7,750/year
- Members, single report GBP 450
- Non-members, unlimited use of BASiL GBP 15,500/year
- Non-members, single report GBP 950
In this way, BASiL can be further developed and the new pricing model will give SGMF the opportunity to work more closely with ports on preparation for bunker operations. By providing the BASiL tool for free to ports, we’ll enable them to serve the industry even better in the safe use of low and zero carbon fuels.
